Focus guitarist Jan Ackerman to play The Apex next month

Jan Akkerman (pictured above) gained international fame with Focus from 1969 to 1976 with whom he recorded a number of albums and the mega-hit “Hocus Pocus” which had international chart success in 1973.

The song has more recently has been heard on numerous TV shows such as “Top Gear”, “Skins and Shameless” and in the in the films “Hot Fuzz”, “Robocop (2014)” and “Baby Driver” and he is due on stage at The Apex, in Bury St Edmunds, next month.

 In 1973, Akkerman was named “World’s Best Guitarist” by Melody Maker in a Top 10 that included Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page and Mick Ronson.  

 Jan has released 30 solo albums and has collaborated with a number of musicians including Alan Price, Jack Bruce and Ice T.

He is joined on stage by Coen Molenaar on piano, Marijn van den Berg on drums and David de Marez Oyens on bass.

They will be playing music from Jan’s long career including his favourite Focus tunes and more recent compositions.
