Theatre Royal Annual Golf Day 2025 a record breaking success

The Theatre Royal – Bury St Edmunds Annual Golf Day took place on Thursday 17th April 2025 at the beautiful and challenging Thetford Golf Club in Norfolk. The event has been taking place since 2011 but has never had so many players as this year with 57 teams of 4. The 228 players started from the first tee at 7.20 with the final four-ball going out at 14.50. The long day is so well supported that the event was closed to new bookings as far back as October. The prestigious golf day has now raised in the region of £60000 for the Theatre since the first event took place at Stowmarket Golf Club. This is the 4th year at Thetford Golf Club renowned as one of the premier golfing venues in East Anglia, proudly sponsored by the local news and information website Suffolk Village Info.
This is one of the many fund raising events for the Theatre Royal which enables it to continue important work in the local community.
“We raise over 20% of our core income through fundraising so events like this are crucial to run the Theatre Royal,” said Emma Suckling, Head of Development at Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds.

Player after player commented on what a great event it had been, with wall to wall sunshine, such a beautiful well-manicured course and friendly staff you can’t do much better than that other than play very well which a lot of the competitors did with some superb scores that gave us the first ladies team winners.
As well as thanking all the teams that attended and the Theatre Royal organisation team. Thanks must also go to the other sponsors such as Greene King, Taylor Wimpey, Lovewell Blake, Barker –Gotlee and of course Thetford Golf Club.
“We are delighted to say that we will be back at Thetford Golf Club next year on St Georges Day Thursday 23rd April 2026″ says organiser Ian Duncan
