Concerns for woman after reports of her being involved in a struggle with a man

Police are appealing for information following concerns for the welfare of a woman in Bury St Edmunds.

The incident occurred between 9.45pm and 10pm on Sunday, May 11, in Mount Road, near to Tassel Road.

A member of the public reported that she had witnessed a struggle between a man and a woman and that the woman appeared to be in distress.

Officers arrived at the scene soon after being called but were unable to locate anyone.

As yet, no one has reported being a victim of an offence linked to this incident and officers have not been able to identify either of the parties involved.

Further police enquiries, including searches in the vicinity of Mount Road, will be undertaken as officers are keen to establish exactly what took place.

The only description of the woman is that she appeared to have light-coloured long hair.

Detective Inspector Cat Thompson, of West CID at Bury St Edmunds, said: “We do not want to cause any undue alarm in the local community, but it is important for us to establish the facts of what took place in Moreton Hall.

“It could be we have a situation where there is a victim of crime who has not yet contacted us, or alternatively this may all be a misunderstanding and no offence has occurred.

“I would urge either of the persons involved, or any other potential witnesses, to contact us as soon as possible.”

Officers are appealing for anyone who was in the vicinity of Mount Road between 9.30pm and 10pm on Sunday, May 11, and believes they saw anything that may assist with police enquiries to come forward.

They are also asking anyone who was driving in the area with a dashcam in their vehicle to review the footage for anything that may be of assistance.
