‘Walking the World – A Life of Exploration and Adventure’

Levison Wood (pictured above) the world-renowned explorer and TV presenter, brings a new live show that will celebrate the human spirit and the transformative power of travel.
Transporting the audience to some of the world’s most breathtaking and challenging landscapes, he will tell captivating stories from his remarkable adventures over the past 20 years.
Highlights include walking the Nile, the Himalayas and Americas, as well as exploring volatile borders across the Middle East and documenting efforts to protect endangered species across three continents.
He has travelled and filmed in over 100 one countries.
In 2013-14, he was the first person to walk alongside the river Nile – an expedition of 4,250 miles that took nine months and was Channel 4’s most successful factual series of the year. His book “Walking the Nile” became a Sunday Times bestseller. In 2015.
Levison walked the length of the Himalayas, a six-month journey of over 1,700 miles from Afghanistan to Bhutan, which was televised on Channel 4.
His next expedition, walking 1,800 miles along the length of Central America from Mexico to Colombia, including the notorious Darien Gap, also aired on Channel 4 and his accompanying book “Walking The Americas” was also a Sunday Times bestseller.
Other TV series include “From Russia To Iran: Crossing The Wild Frontier”, “Walking with Elephants” (a walk across Botswana with migrating elephants, learning about conservation in the region) and “Levison Wood: Walking with…”, which follows Levison to Borneo to encounter Orangutans; to Namibia to track down the last remaining Desert Lions; and to East Greenland’s Polar Bears, as he tracks down some of the most iconic but endangered animals on Earth.
Even away from the world of television, Levison has made a name for himself by finding novel ways to experience inaccessible and dangerous places.
He’s hitchhiked from England to India and back, crossing conflict zones in Iraq and Afghanistan; driven ambulances from London to Malawi for a charity; walked across Madagascar; protected George Clooney in South Sudan; fought Taliban insurgents as an officer in the British Parachute Regiment in Afghanistan; and helped a pop star perform an outdoor concert in the coldest inhabited place on Earth.
His live show, “Walking the World: A Life of Exploration and Adventure” will inspire both seasoned travellers and those dreaming of their first journey, as Levison delves into the philosophy of exploration, reflecting on how his military background, his love for photography and his role as a journalist have shaped his approach to travel.
He will reveal the creative process behind filming his expeditions, touching on the unexpected moments of connection, beauty, risk and reward that have marked his career and the lessons he’s taken from those travels.
