Sir Michael Parkinson to appear at Theatre Royal
Michael Parkinson, TV Presenter
Sir Michael Parkinson is to take to the stage at the Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds for another “An Evening With…” fundraising event on Sunday, September 1.
In conversation with his son Mike and showing highlights from the Parkinson archive, this is a unique opportunity to get an intimate, entertaining and informative look at his remarkable journey whilst reliving the best moments from a show that, for many, defined Saturday nights.
Sir Michael Parkinson is an English broadcaster, journalist and author. He presented his television talk show, “Parkinson”, from 1971 to 1972 and from 1998 to 2007, as well as other talk shows and programmes both in the UK and internationally.
He has been decribed by The Guardian as “the great British talkshow host”.
He began his career as a journalist for local newspapers, working as a features writer for the Manchester Guardian and later on the Daily Express in London.
Across his television career, Sir Michael interviewed many top names including Marlon Brando, Billy Connolly, Fred Astaire, Orson Welles, Sir Alec Guinness, Sir Paul McCartney, Muhammad Ali (whom he later stated was the most remarkable man he had ever interviewed) and countless others.
His appearance at Theatre Royal is a continuation of the ever popular “An Evening With…” fundraising events and is sponsored by local auctioneers Lacy Scott & Knight. Limited tickets are also available to join Sir Michael Parkinson for a post-show drink at a private reception on stage.
Tickets are on sale at the Box Office, call 01284 769505, book online at www.theatreroyal.org/shows/an-evening-with-sir-michael-parkinson/ or visit the theatre in person.
