Two organisations benefit from funds from Rotary Club

The collection for funds for Morocco earthquake appeal.

The Rotary Club of Stowmarket Gipping Valley invited Peter Harrison, of the East Anglian Air Ambulance Service, to talk to members of the club regarding the operations of its doctors and other staff serving our area.

His talk gave a fascinating insight into the workings of the organisation.

So far in 2023 there have been 2,167 missions and 1,498 patients have been treated.

Peter emphasised that the quicker the response there is to injuries, the greater the chance of a better outcome.

The charity is mainly funded by public donations, but occasionally they do get a one off government grant.

Peter was then presented with a cheque for £50 by club member Shirley Miller (pictured above).

Various members of the club also took part in a collection in Stowmarket for the unfortunate people in Morocco who suffered the consequences of the earthquake near Marrakesh.

The money raised went towards the provision of a Shelterbox for the victims. The Shelterbox provides essential emergency shelter after disaster and helps to transform lives.
