Dr Who fans use their powers to raise charity funds

A Tardis, Dalek and a bunch of dedicated Dr Who fans helped raise £2,464.28 for St Nicholas Hospice Care.

Time Lords, Thomas Seymour, Tuesday Harris, Connor Gatsell, Aaron Williams and Paul Devine attracted thousands of visitors to their Dr Who memorabilia stall at the Bury St Edmunds Christmas Fayre.

During the four-day event, visitors to the stall were invited to make donations in return for photographs with the Doctors and their villains.

Time Lord Thomas said: “Aaron and I have been making new Dr Who exhibits and monsters during the year for the fayre and we are so happy people think they are the originals!  The thousands of people that visited our stall loved the monsters, especially the Dalek. This is the fourth time we have raised money for the hospice and we couldn’t have done it without the support from fellow fans, Rob Cassidy, Wendy Devine, Carol Smith and Daniel Harris.”

George Chilvers, hospice community fundraising manager, said: “Thank you so much to the Doctor Who fundraisers for working so hard for us – to have raised such a large amount is brilliant. I know the group had a lot of support and we are so grateful to everyone who made the stall possible. All of those who showcased their props, collectables and memorabilia as well as everyone who kindly donated to the cause.

“The money raised will make a big difference to the people across the area who need hospice support. We really appreciated everyone’s continued support.”
