To help mark its 35th year St Nicholas Hospice Care is on the lookout for fundraisers willing to take part in a new challenge.
As part of its anniversary celebrations, the charity which supports people living with death, dying and grief, has it has launched its first virtual fundraising challenge.
Sponsored by Abbycroft Leisure and Home Store, the Virtual 35, allows fundraisers to choose when, where and how to they complete their challenge.
Those taking part will set their own target or create a challenge to fit the 35 year celebrations. The only rule is that any fundraising activity must take place before the end of May 2020.
Jenny Smith, the hospice’s events manager, said: “By taking part in the hospice’s Virtual 35, you can complete an achievement to be proud of. The beauty of the Virtual 35 is that you can do it at your own pace, in your own time, wherever and whenever you like.
“It would be lovely if you wanted to tie your challenge in with the number 35 in recognition of our anniversary year, but it is by no means a requirement.
“Whatever you choose to do, whether it’s a walk around your local park, swimming the distance of the Channel in your local swimming pool split up over a few weeks, reaching dizzying heights with a skydive or pulling on your trainers for a running challenge – it all counts.”
Those fundraisers wishing to embrace the number 35 as part of their efforts the race is on to come up with a fitting challenge.
If you’re a keen runner you might want to notch up two marathons (or any distance) within 35 days or if you’d like some company along the way you might want to cycle 35 miles on a tandem bike.
Signing up for the event, which is open to all ages, costs £10 and those taking part are encouraged to gain sponsorship for their activities too.
All fundraisers will receive support from the charity’s fundraising team plus their very own Virtual 35 T-shirt to wear whilst carrying out their challenge and a specially designed Virtual 35 medal on completion.
