Pair in court charged with theft of £30,000 worth of lead from church roof

Two people have been charged with theft for stealing lead from a church in Hartest.

It took place at some point between Monday and Wednesday, October 14 and 16, 2019, when lead, worth around £30,000,  was stolen from the roof of All Saints Church, on Lawshall Road.

Police made enquires and arrested a 32-year-old male and a 38-year-old male in Lincolnshire on suspicion of the theft of lead.

Constantin Motescu, 32, of Sutton Hill, in Telford, and 38-year-old Sucea Lanourentiu, of no fixed abode, were subsequently charged with theft on May 25.

They were remanded and are due to appear before Lincoln Magistrates Court today, Thursday, June 11.
