A US Air Force pilot’s body has been discovered along with the jet’s debris after his plane crashed into the North Sea yesterday.
The F-15C Eagle from the 48th Fighter Wing at RAF Lakenheath crashed at approximately 0940 yesterday whilst on a training mission off Flamborough Head in East Yorkshire.
A spokesman for RAF Lakenheath said: “At the time of the accident, the aircraft was on a routine training mission with one pilot on board. The cause of the crash is unknown at this time.”
A spokeswoman for HM Coastguard said the HM Coastguard helicopter from Humberside was sent to the scene along with Bridlington and Scarborough RNLI lifeboats.
