Raiders dig up and steal 24 topiary shrubs worth a total of £7,200

A total of 24 topiary shrubs, valued at just over £7,000, have been stolen from a housing development in Newmarket.

It took place on Exning Road at some point overnight from 5pm on Friday, February 19 and Saturday, February 20, at 9.30am.

They were unplanted and each are valued at about £300 each and were taken from the Cala Homes site.

It follows an earlier theft of eight other topiary shrubs that took place at some point between Monday, February 15, at 5.45pm, and Tuesday, February 16, at 9.30am.

Anyone who saw any suspicious behaviour or knows of the whereabouts of the trees stolen or has been offered them for sale in suspicious circumstances should contact Suffolk police, quoting the relevant crime number.
