Jodie Prenger is to take the lead role in Andrew Lloyd Webber and Don Black’s musical “Tell Me On A Sunday” which is to be staged at Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds later this year.

She will take the part of Emma who has romantic misadventures as a young English girl in New York in the heady days of the 1980’s.

Jodie has starred in a series of performances by the National Theatre including “A Taste of Honey”, “Oliver!”, “One Man Two Governors”, “Annie”, “Abigail’s Party” and “Calamity Jane”.

“Tell Me on a Sunday” charts Emma seeking success and love in her new found world but as she weaves her way through the maze of the city and her own anxieties, frustrations and heartaches she begins to wonder whether she’s been looking for love in all the wrong places.

This iconic musical, which is accompanied live by West End musicians, includes the chart-topping “Take That Look Off Your Face”, and title track “Tell Me on a Sunday”.

Previously performed by iconic stars Marti Webb and Sarah Brightman, this new production directed by Paul Foster includes an intimate post-show chat with Jodie charting her life, love and experience playing the role of Emma.

The show is produced by Jamie Wilson, who said: ‘We are thrilled that we are able to revive the acclaimed Watermill Theatre production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Don Black’s ‘Tell Me on a Sunday’ to be able to play a part in the reopening of theatres around the UK.

It is at Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds from Tuesday to Saturday, November 2 to 6.
