“BIN COLLECTION IN MID SUFFOLK BACK TO NORMAL NEXT WEEK”

For the fourth week running the waste bins in Church Road Elmswell were fustratingly collected 24 hours later than normal without any warning or communication to villagers as to why this is happening.  After visiting the Mid Suffolk & Babergh Council website https://www.midsuffolk.gov.uk/waste-services/missed-collections/ we found that it highlights the vast extent of the problem in Mid Suffolk with 33 villages and areas in Stowmarket having delayed, collections. The Babergh District & South Suffolk does not appear to have suffered in the same way.

There is a standard note on the website that states:

Missed collections

“There are a number of delays to bin collections across Mid Suffolk due to Road Traffic Accident, Fire Incident and Crew Absence. Residents should continue to leave their bins out, and our crews will get to you as soon as possible. We apologise for the delay”.

The note gives us no idea when the issue is to be resolved or what is the real reason for the problem in Mid Suffolk.

Suffolk Village Info therefore decided to contact the Council to find out if there was any chance of a resolution to the situation. We spoke to Waste Manager James Fadeayi who confirmed that the main reason for the problem was Staff Absence. James also told us when pressed that the situation should now be resolved by this Saturday 17th July and the situation will be back to normal collections next week. Please do not hesitate to let us know if there is still a problem in your area.
