Cyclists encouraged to take part in the Elmswell Loop

Cyclists are set to be out in force next week for a ride round the country lanes in Elmswell.

It’s being organised by British Cycling and takes place on Wednesday, May 4, at 10am, starting from the Blackbourne Community Centre.

The ride is ideal for anyone who has never cycled before and wants to give it a go or those who have not ridden in awhile and are a little rusty or seasoned cyclists who want a social ride and meet other like minded people.

There’s a choice of taking on a five-mile route or a 10-mile ride and there is a “no drop” policy where everyone on ride stays together as a group and encourages those who may need a little extra help.

Riders must stay with the group and the pace set by the slowest person. It is not a race or competition, organisers want to encourage participants to get out on their bikes and meet new people.

Riders should wear helmets, ensure bike is roadworthy, tyres inflated to correct pressure and  bring puncture repair kit or inner tubes, bike pump or CO2 gas cannisters, appropriate clothing and a drink for the journey.

The route will be along quiet county roads and to join up go to the website https://www.letsride.co.uk/rides/elmswell-loop

  1. It is a ladies only ride under the British Cycling Breeze banner to encourage more females to give cycling a go. These are very gentle rides and I would thoroughly recommend giving it a go.

  2. These are ladies only rides which are under the umbrella of British Cycling Breeze programme. They are very social easy rides to encourage ladies of any ability to get out on their bike and meet like minded people and fain confidence. I would definitely recommend these rides.
