Man jailed for four months for assaulting police officer

A 40-year-old man has been jailed after pleading guilty to assaulting a police officer in July.

Lee Hollands, (pictured above) from Haverhill, appeared at Ipswich Crown Court on Wednesday, December 7, and was sentenced to four months in prison for an assault on an emergency worker.

Hollands was arrested by police at 9.40pm on July 15, at Anglian Place, in Haverhill, on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle.

He resisted arrest and kicked the police officer and attempted to bite him. He was then further arrested on suspicion of both assaulting an emergency worker and possession of 1.6 grams of cannabis.

Hollands was taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre and subsequently charged with assaulting a police officer and possession of a Class B drug.

Hollands was also sentenced to 18 months in prison in total for a number of other offences and ordered to pay £154 in court fees.
