Man arrested for firearms offences in Brandon

A man has been arrested for firearms offences after another man sustained minor injury following an incident in Brandon.

It occurred at some point between 10.30pm and 11pm on Monday, December 12, at an address on the High Street.

The victim, a man aged in his 40s, called police the following afternoon – Tuesday, December 13 – reporting he had been injured in the leg after a firearm, thought to be a shotgun, was discharged outside his address.

The injury is described as minor and the victim did not require hospital treatment.

A 36-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and has been taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where he remains.

Detectives understand the victim and suspect are known to each other and that this was a contained incident with no wider threat to the community.

Police conducted a search at a property on Riverside Way, in Brandon, in connection with the incident and seized a number of firearms and ammunition from the address.

Detectives are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to make contact. They would also like to hear from witnesses, or anyone driving in the vicinity of the High Street between 10:30pm and 11pm with a dashcam in their vehicle who may have captured any footage that may assist the investigation.
