Man in court on firearms charges

A 36-year-old man is due to appear before magistrates today charged with firearms offences in Brandon.

It follows an incident that occurred at some point between 10.30pm and 11pm on Monday, December 12, at an address on the High Street.

The victim, a man aged in his 40s, called police the following afternoon – Tuesday, December 13 – reporting he had been injured in the leg after a firearm, thought to be a shotgun, was discharged outside his address.

The injury was described as minor and the victim did not require hospital treatment.

Police conducted a search at a property on Riverside Way, on Tuesday, in connection with the incident and seized a number of firearms and ammunition from the address.

Jason Anderson, of Riverside Way, was arrested and has subsequently been charged with two counts of failing to comply with the conditions of a firearm certificate and possession of an imitation firearm intent to cause fear of violence.

He is due to appear before Ipswich Magistrates Court today, Thursday, December 15.
