Man in his 80s dies following crash near Chevington

A man has died following a road traffic collision near Chevington.
Police were called just after 6.05pm yesterday, Wednesday, January 18, to reports of a two-vehicle collision on the A143 Poulter’s Lane involving a silver Suzuki and a silver BMW.
Emergency services including the air ambulance, the fire service and a volunteer paramedic from Suffolk Accident Rescue Service (SARS) were also in attendance, however the driver of the Suzuki – a man aged in his 80s – sadly died at the scene.
His passenger, a woman also aged in her 80s, sustained serious injuries and was taken to West Suffolk Hospital for treatment where she remains.
The driver of the BMW, a woman aged in her 50s, sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision.
The road was closed whilst the collision investigation work was undertaken, reopening shortly after 1.30am this morning – Thursday, January 19.
Officers would like to hear from any potential witnesses to the collision, or anyone who was driving in the area just prior to the incident and who has a dashcam fitted in their vehicle, to review the footage for anything that may be of assistance.
