A local charity is asking the community to host an afternoon tea to celebrate the NHS’ 75th birthday in July.

My WiSH Charity, which supports the West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust, are hoping the community will enjoy a tea time treat and help them raise money to enhance the care of patients, both in the West Suffolk Hospital and Newmarket Community Hospital, and out in the community too.

Tanya Fifield, fundraising officer for the charity, said: “The community have been really fantastic at getting behind this fun fundraiser, but it would be brilliant to have more join us.”

The birthday is on July 5 but the teas can be held any time.

Tanya continued: “It’s all about getting together, having a cuppa, creating a party atmosphere and, most of all, having fun with friends, family, and colleagues. We are so lucky to have our amazing NHS and we think it’s something worth celebrating.”

She continued: “We have a great fundraising pack which people can download. It’s full of resources including ideas, games, quiz questions plus things to help you decorate your tea party.”

And if you don’t fancy organising a tea you can Dress for the NHS! instead.

The charity is hoping people will run wild with dressing up in their favourite colours, whacky socks, ties or even in their favourite dinosaur costume if that’s what they fancy. The choice is theirs all for the donation of a £1.

Tanya addd: “These donations allow us to support patients at a difficult time. It could be by offering comfort packs to relatives, sensory toys to help young patients, or equipment to help patients with Parkinson’s. The range of care we cover is vast and these donations really do make a difference to us all.”
