TV doctor to take to the stage at The Apex later this month

TV’s family doctor, Dr Amir Khan (pictured above), is taking to the stage at The Apex, in Bury St Edmunds, later this month for a heart-warming and hilarious evening as he shares stories about growing up in his British Asian family with five sisters, ruled by Mama Khan, and his life as a general practitioner.

He will detail his journey to becoming a doctor – something he never wanted to do, preferring to become a vet.

Influenced by his mother, Amir applied to study medicine, and the rest, as they say, is history; after appearing on “GPs Behind Closed Doors”, he is currently ITV’s “Lorraine” and “Good Morning Britain” doctor, the host of Channel 5’s “You Are What You Eat”, and author of bestselling book, “The Doctor Will See You Now”.

He’ll share funny, emotional, and bizarre stories of patient encounters, painting a profoundly revealing portrait of healthcare in 21st century Britain. Years of underfunding and lack of staff have brought the NHS to crisis point and Dr Amir will argue why it should be saved, before it’s too late.

Finally, Dr Amir will bring the doctors surgery to you, taking questions from the audience and tackling seemingly personal and often challenging subjects in a relaxed and practical manner, offering advice – from sleeping issues and headaches, to joint pain and heart palpitations.

He is at The Apex on Tuesday, May 23, at 7.30pm. Visit the website www.theapex.co.uk or ring 01284 758000 for more information or to book tickets.
