Tango passion at The Apex
“Strictly Come Dancing’s” Argentine Tango star, Vincent Simone (pictured above) heads out on tour this autumn with his show “Tango Passions”, which calls in at The Apex at the end of this month.
He leads a cast of world‑class Tango and Latin specialists on a passionate journey through Tango’s transformation from the streets of Buenos Aires to its modern international embrace.
With his decades of international acclaim and “Strictly Come Dancing” pedigree Vincent brings choreography that combines the elegance of Tango tradition with a fresh, modern flair.
Born into a family of professional dancers Vincent, from the Puglia region of Italy, began teaching dance from the age of 12, moving to Guildford, Surrey, when he was just 17 to continue teaching.
Vincent and his dance partner Flavia Cacace won numerous Ballroom, Latin and Argentine Tango competitions before joining the hit BBC show “Strictly Come Dancing” in 2006 as professional dancers.
Fanatical about dance, he wants to share the raw, intimate and authentic art with his audiences and said: “I can’t wait to share my passion for the Argentine Tango with audiences around the country. This show is a tribute to the beauty and complexity of this incredible art form, and I’m excited to bring it to life on stage.”
Evoking the smoky bars and dance halls of Buenos Aires, “Tango Passions” uses the language of music and dance to tell tales of despair, lust and unrequited love, as it showcases the beauty and passion of this famous dance.
Audiences can expect a blend of classic and contemporary choreography set to music from the likes of Astor Piazzolla and Gotan Project, in a sexy, passionate night of rhythm, cultural expression, drama, and emotion.
Vincent Simone’s “Tango Passions” is at The Apex on Friday, October 31, at 7.30pm.
