Success of Suffolk tutoring prompts business expansion

The success of a Suffolk-based tutoring business – with a difference – has seen them expand and move into new premises.
Prepped Academy offers a dedicated space for children aged five to 18 years old to enhance their learning “with minimal distractions”.
Alongside centres in Ipswich and Felixstowe, the growth of the business in Bury St Edmunds has now seen them move to the town’s Farmers Club.
Louise Newby, who set up the tutoring centre, said: “We have all read the headlines about children needing a little more support with their studies in this post-Covid world. Prepped Academy differs to home and online tutoring as we offer a professional space, conducive to good quality learning, with minimal distractions. Alongside this, we make a conscious effort to not be ‘just more school’.”
Prepped Academy started life in an office on Angel Hill in January 2022, but the success of the business in Bury meant it outgrew the premises.
Dave Hughan, who runs the business with Louise and has already overseen the worldwide Rugbytots franchise, explained: “Prepped is a wonderful and engaging tutoring business and has already supported hundreds of Suffolk students with their studies. The Farmers Club has wonderful rooms ideal for tutoring and we have secured two bright, characterful spaces that the tutors and students will love – plus the opportunity of further expansion in the future.”
In addition to the Bury St Edmunds business, Louise has overseen the growth of Prepped Academy: Ipswich and Prepped Academy: Felixstowe.
Louise added: “Our Ipswich business actually has two sites – one in Rushmere St Andrew and the other in Ravenswood, so we are ideally located for either side of town. Our parents and students are massive advocates of the service and we are very excited to now be looking for some great people to run their own franchises. Ipswich is quite unique as a new franchisee will already have lots of existing students and tutors to work with.”
Prepped Academy is based in Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich and Felixstowe and teaches students from five to 18 years old in all subjects in a specialist tutoring centre.
