Free compost giveaway held at Brandon Country Park

Residents took advantage of a fantastic opportunity to enrich their gardens at the free compost giveaway held at Brandon Country Park (pictured above).
The compost provided was a result of the garden waste materials collected by West Suffolk Council’s bin crews from across the district.
Throughout the day, which took place on Wednesday, May 8, gardeners of all levels had the opportunity to find out more from the Suffolk Master Composter volunteers about the benefits of composting, including improved soil health, reduced greenhouse gas emissions and decreased reliance on chemical fertilizers.
Victor Lukaniuk, deputy leader of the council and ward member for Brandon West, said: “We are thrilled by the overwhelming response to our free compost giveaway event – we had people eagerly turning up all day, ready to fill their bags with compost.
“It is inspiring to see so many residents eager to embrace sustainable practices and make a positive impact on the environment.”
