American country music star at The Apex
Straddling the fine line between country music and Americana, Kristian Bush thrives on the genre fringes, making songs that speak to its contemporary heart.
Well known in America for being half of the record-breaking Country duo Sugarland with Jennifer Nettles, Kristian is a multi-platinum-selling, Grammy Award winner, who is a frequent performer on the Grand Ole Opry and is set to play at The Apex, innBury St Edmunds, next month
Kristian launched his professional music career in 1994 with the Folk-Rock duo Billy Pilgrim.
Within the decade, he went on to form Sugarland with Jennifer Nettles.
In 2004, Sugarland’s debut single, ‘Baby Girl’ climbed to No.2 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and peaked at No.38 on the Billboard Hot 100.
With a run of 46 weeks on the Country Singles chart, ‘Baby Girl’ set a record for the longest chart run since the counting system was installed in 1990.
The group scored their first No.1 album with 2008’s ‘Love on the Inside’ and fame quickly followed; platinum status for ‘Love on the Inside’; a prime-time network television special called ‘Live on the Inside’ (which resulted in a live album of the same name); Grammy Awards for Best Country Song and Best Country Performance; and the Academy of Country Music’ s Vocal Duo of the Year award.
The pair went on to have five No.1 hits and 12 Top.10 songs in the US Country Charts.
The video for Sugarland’s 2018 single ‘Babe’ featured Taylor Swift, who co-wrote the song and has been a champion of the duo.
Bush has won six BMI Awards (Broadcast Music Inc. Film & TV Awards) for his songwriting abilities and continues to build his prolific career by stretching the norms, embracing creative freedom and never giving up.
Kristian Bush is at The Apex on Monday, September 2 at 7.30pm.
