Prepare for a swinging Sunday at The Apex
Joe Pettitt and The Len Phillips Swing Orchestra will be presenting a tribute to Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald at The Apex, in Bury St Edmunds, towards the end of next month.
It features stars of the West End’s “Rat Pack: Live From Las Vegas”, Stephen Triffitt and Nicola Emmanuelle
The popular 17-piece big band celebrate the two biggest names in jazz and popular music, with faithful renditions of Nelson Riddle’s stunning arrangements, along with new instrumental versions.
With two shows for Sky TV (“100 Years of Big Bands” and “A Swingin’ Christmas with Mica Paris”), a No.1 in the iTunes Jazz chart, a top 40 hit in the UK Singles Chart, performances at the Royal Albert Hall, Cadogan Hall, Blackpool’s Tower Ballroom and a tour to Dubai, all in the last couple of years, the Len Phillips Swing Orchestra is a band to reckoned with.
In their late afternoon show at The Apex on Sunday, September 29, they will set the scene with tracks from the bandleaders who worked with Sinatra and Fitzgerald – including Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Tommy Dorsey, Quincy Jones and Buddy Rich.
Stephen starred in Las Vegas at the Sands Casino for three seasons and has twice sold-out the London Palladium with his own solo show.
And Nicola created the role of Ella Fitzgerald in the West End production of the “Rat Pack: Live From Las Vegas” and her pure jazz voice and captivating stage presence lend authenticity and verve to jazz and swing classics from the 1930s-50s.”
