Congratulations to Mel Clarke as he takes the trophy and is Elmswell Golf Champion 2024

The 22nd annual Elmswell Golf Championship was held at Stowmarket Golf Club on Friday, September 20.

With 32 entrants, as always, the event was very competitive with virtually every player in with a chance to pick up the trophy.

This year’s competition went right down to wire with both Mel Clarke and Wes Plumb tied on 38 points. Mel won his first Elmswell Championship on count back of the last 6 holes.

In third place and first lady was Kim Davis with 37 points. In 4th was Henry Ridgeon, also on 37 points, followed in 5th place by Ivor Evans, with 36 points

To say that Mel was pleased would be an understatement.

The event was as usual well organised by David and Irene Overman.

The presentations of all the prizes followed the meal at the club that was attended by 40 people.

Next year’s event will take place on Friday, September 26, at Stowmarket Golf Club and is open to all golfers living within the boundary of the village of Elmswell.
