One of the UK’s fastest rising acts set to take to the stage of The Apex

Since winning “Best New Band” in the 2019 Planet Rock Radio awards, the Kris Barras Band (pictured above) has become one of the UK’s fastest rising acts and they are set to appear at The Apex, in Bury St Edmunds, early next month.

With his blistering technique and soul-wrenching melodies, Kris was voted one of the “Top Blues Guitarists in the World” by Music Radar, while the band scored “Best Album” accolade in the European Blues Awards.

Guitarist Magazine hailed Barras as “reminiscent of shredders like Zakk Wylde”, and Classic Rock applauded the “pummelling riffs and from-the-gut vocals”.

After an almost-unbelievable career change from pro-MMA fighter of 10 years to professional musician, Barras cut his teeth in the international blues rock scene culminating in a frontman spot with supergroup Supersonic Blues Machine (featuring ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons).

In the meantime, Kris Barras Band gravitated to a heavier sound

A UK tour with Back Stone Cherry in 2021 culminated with a show at the Royal Albert Hall. They then supported The Darkness for two nights at London’s Shepherd Bush Empire.

The band have also supported Bon Jovi, Joanne Shaw Taylor, John Mayall and The Bluesbreakers and Walter Trout.

Out earlier this year, their new album “Halo Effect” debuted at number five in the UK official album charts.

Amplifying the heavier sound from their previous album “Death Valley Paradise” (which saw four tracks added to Planet Rock’s A-list playlist), “Halo Effect” delivers hard-hitting riffs, captivating choruses and fuse-lighting technical solos.

Their high-energy, no-nonsense rock and blues, foot-stomping riffs and catchy tunes have made the band one of the most played artists on Planet Rock Radio.

In addition, they’ve performed two live acoustic sessions on BBC Radio 2 to over three million listeners, which caused host Richard Madeley to exclaim, “that’s the reason I love doing this show!”.

Support comes from special guests Scotland’s Norse inspired rockers North Atlas and The Nocturnal Affair from Las Vegas.

The Kris Barras Band play The Apex on Thursday, November 7, at 8pm. See www.theapex.co.uk or ring 01284 758000 for more information or to book tickets.
