Rotary club marks 22nd anniversary raising thousands of pounds over two decades
Mid Suffolk Rotary has celebrated its 22nd anniversary after undergoing a recent name change and has raised thousands of pounds over the past two decades.
Since starting out in 2002 it has had three change of names; it began life as the Rotary Club of Gipping Valley and people started asking where Gipping Valley was, it then became the Rotary Club of Stowmarket Gipping Valley after the town where it was based. Now it is Mid Suffolk Rotary to reflect the larger area it covers.
The club has raised a great deal of money since its inception and has been instrumental in assisting the Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service in providing smoke alarms for elderly and people in need over the past nine years.
The club has also raised funds for numerous local causes and undertaken many local projects varying from planting daffodils in Rattlesden to painting the interior of charity premises in Stowmarket .
It has also been responsible for raising funds so that various forms of disaster relief can be given to countries worldwide which have suffered earthquakes, floods and the like.
Recently the club held a collection at the local Tesco Superstore and sent £400 to the Forge Church to assist them in the purchase and distribution of Christmas hampers to needy families in the area.
Mid Suffolk Rotary meets once a fortnight usually at the Limes Hotel, in Needham Market. If you would like further details, please contact richard@tingeys.co.uk
