British Blues guitar sensation plays The Apex

Laurence Jones (pictured above) was inducted into the British Blues Awards Hall of Fame for winning their Young Artist of the Year award for three years in a row and he is due at The Apex, in Bury St Edmunds, next month.

The multi-award-winning guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter, who Classic Rock Magazine hailed as “the future of the blues”, has shared stages with Van Morrison, Ringo Starr, Jeff Beck, Joe Bonamassa and Status Quo, among many others.

In 2017, Buddy Guy, who once likened Laurence to “a young Eric Clapton”, invited him to join him onstage at the Holland International Blues Festival before of an audience of 15,000.

Jones’ Spring 2025 UK Tour sees him working with the Music Venue Trust to take his power-trio format to some of the finest grassroots, independent music venues across the UK.

“I started my career in a power-trio, and gradually moved away from that. Going back to those roots was an itch that I’d wanted to scratch for ages.” Jones explains.

“Two of my biggest heroes were Gary Moore and Jimi Hendrix, and that’s the direction I wanted to go in, along with some more contemporary influences such as Queens of The Stone Age, Jack White, and Royal Blood.

“It’s a huge honour to be a part of the MVT campaign supporting grassroots venues.

“I have built my career playing in the clubs over the last decade and I’m very excited to be involved with the Music Venue Trust & AGMP Concerts to bring you this special tour.

“Along with the new tour, new music is coming so please stay tuned, I’m excited for the future … see you next year.”

Tom Maddicot, of Music Venues Trust, said: “We are thrilled to partner with AGMP to bring the acclaimed artist, Laurence Jones, to some of our member venues across the UK.

“Reaching audiences in new towns and cities, not just the major ones, is crucial for the vitality of local music communities.

“Bringing high-calibre artists to these areas not only enriches the cultural fabric of these communities but also provides a platform for local talent to thrive and grow.

“This tour is a significant step in ensuring that vibrant musical experiences are accessible to all.”

Laurence Jones is at The Apex on Thursday, January 23, at 7.30pm. See www.theapex.co.uk or ring 01284 758000 for more information or to book tickets.
