A14 to close as trees are cut down on the side of the carriageway

Further work to cut down and remove diseased trees along the A14 is set to take place next month.

National Highways plan for the work to take place between junction 52 at Clayton and junction 51 at Needham Market over a two week period.

They will get rid of the trees which are suffering from Ash Die Back and as part of the work they will also be replanting with a mixture of new species.

This work is part of a wider project on the A14 between junctions 58 and 49.

This phase will be carried out over two weeks from Monday, February 3, to Saturday, February 15, working between 8pm and 6am on week nights only, weather permitting.

To carry out the work safely the carriageway will be closed at the A14 westbound between junctions 52 and 51 and divert traffic as detailed in the map above:

  • Drivers wishing to travel westbound on the A14 should exit at junction 52 onto Norwich Road then rejoin the A14 at junction 51 to continue their journey.

  1. To work on one carriageway they close the whole road.
Why not divert all traffic to the other carriageway and make it 2 way road at 40 mph. Much quicker for motorists and especially trucks. And means the diversion road is left to run normally
