Bronze sculpture stolen from outside the Town Hall in Sudbury

A bronze sculpture (pictured above) was damaged and then stolen from outside the Town Hall, in Sudbury town centre.

The incident took place between 9.21pm and 9.30pm on Thursday, January 16.

The sculpture, a black, metal Dalmatian, was broken from a post in Old Market Place before being placed in a bag and taken away.

A group of three males and two females, believed to be aged in their mid to late teens, were seen in the area at the time and are believed to have walked off with the sculpture.

PC John Moore said: “Despite there being appeals last week in the media we are still asking for support from members of the public as we look to identify all parties involved in this incident.

“We are also very keen to locate the sculpture which is an important celebration of Sudbury’s heritage.”

Officers would like to speak to anyone with any information or who may have witnessed the incident or seen the group around the time.

Two of the males were seen wearing dark clothing, with one wearing light-coloured trainers and the other wearing light and dark-coloured trainers.

One female was wearing dark clothing while the other was seen wearing light-coloured jeans and a white coat.
