Two people charged in connection with stabbing

Two people have been charged in connection with a stabbing in Stowmarket at the weekend and are due in court later today (Tuesday, February 4).

It comes after police were called at 11am, on Sunday, February 2, to reports that a man had been attacked in Leveret Gardens.

Ambulance crews were also in attendance and the victim – aged in his 20s – was taken to hospital for treatment, where he currently remains in a stable condition.

Officers immediately began to make enquiries and located a suspect vehicle in Ipswich, which was stopped on Norwich Road at 11.35am, on Sunday.

A 60-year-old woman was subsequently arrested.

Fifty minutes later, at 12.25pm officers attended an address on Grimwade Street, in Ipswich, where they arrested a 26-year-old man.

Both suspects were taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning and have now been charged as follows:

  • Simon Jones, of Freehold Road, Needham Market; charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm; and possession of a knife in a public place;
  • Nicola Jones, also of Freehold Road, Needham Market; charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The pair have been remanded in custody and are due to appear before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court (pictured above) at some time today.
