Altercation in Newmarket High Street leads to two men being arrested

Two men have been arrested following an assault in Newmarket yesterday (Saturday, March 8) afternoon.
Officers were called at 3.40pm to reports of an altercation involving a number of people on the High Street.
Two men sustained injuries as a result of the incident and were taken to hospital where they are receiving treatment.
Two men, aged 26 and 23 from Newmarket, were arrested a short time later on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and have been taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre where they will be questioned by officers investigating the incident.
The road was closed for a time.
