Drug dealer jailed for 38 months after attempting to fool police

A man who tried to fool police officers by showing them a fake driving licence has been jailed for possessing cocaine with intent to supply and other offences.

Regi Salillari (pictured above) from Albania, was stopped by officers from the West Area Sentinel team as he was driving in the Thorney Way area of Stowmarket, on January 29.

The 28-year-old produced a counterfeit Italian driving licence but officers searched him and found four bags of cocaine in his underwear and more than £500 in cash.

Following his arrest, officers searched an address in Ipswich where they discovered in excess of £20,000 worth of uncut cocaine and more than £1,000 in cash.

Salillari was charged and remanded with various offences, including possession with intent to supply cocaine, driving with no insurance and possessing a fraudulent document with the intent to deceive.

Salillari appeared at Ipswich Crown Court on Wednesday, March 26. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 38 months in prison.

Pc Harry Tully, from the West Sentinel team, welcomed the result.

“Salillari came to Stowmarket with the sole intention of supplying Class A drugs in the town.

“When intercepted by officers he attempted to deceive them by proving false details and producing fake documents which he had clearly gone to some lengths to obtain.

“Fortunately, the tenacious officers quickly saw past this elaborate ruse and he was arrested.

“We will continue to proactively target those involved in organised crime wherever they might be in our county.”
