Pupils from a Sudbury school have picked up books for their library thanks to a £300 donation from house builder Taylor Wimpey.
World Book Day, celebrated annually, encourages children to explore the magic of books and reading, fostering creativity and imagination.
Taylor Wimpey is building new homes in Sudbury and donated £300 to Tudor Primary School to mark the occasion.
To bring the donation to life, a group of pupils from the school accompanied staff from Taylor Wimpey to Waterstones, in Sudbury, where they were given the opportunity to pick out books of their choice.
The pupils’ chosen books are now part of the school’s library, enriching the children’s reading experiences and encouraging further engagement with literature.
Yasmin Rana, sales manager at Taylor Wimpey London, said: “We are so pleased to have been able to be a part of World Book Day at Tudor Primary School and continue our ongoing commitment to supporting local communities and promoting education.
“It was such a rewarding experience to join the children as they picked out their own books, and it’s moments like this that truly highlight the power of reading.
“We’re proud to continue supporting local communities and promoting education, and we hope this donation sparks a lasting love of reading for the next generation of learners.”
Natasha Williams, assistant headteacher at Tudor Primary School, said: “We were delighted to receive the £300 donation for books to celebrate World Book Day.
“Reading culture is very strong at Tudor CE Primary and we love all things books and reading.
“Our Reading Ambassadors were so excited to choose lots of lovely books for our library. We are very grateful to Taylor Wimpey for helping us build our collection of high quality texts.”
