Improvements to village halls and community hubs are amongst the latest projects to receive a funding boost from Babergh District Council.
Cabinet members at the authority met this week to agree the latest round of Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding awards.
The levy is paid by housing developers to the councils, then earmarked for projects to help local infrastructure keep pace with housing growth.
The council regularly consider bids made for CIL funding, with just over £4.5 million allocated to infrastructure projects across the districts since May 2018.
In this latest round of awards, CIL funding of £38,679 has been allocated to three projects across the Babergh district – improving community facilities for residents in Brantham, Sudbury and Shrimpling.
The awards include more than £19k for new toilets at Brantham Village Hall, almost £10k to upgrade the heating system for The Hive at Friars Hall, Sudbury, and over £9k towards Shimpling Village Hall’s solar project.
Sallie Davies, Babergh District Council’s cabinet member for Heritage, Planning and Infrastructure said: “By using developer contributions to support projects like these we can help our towns and villages to continue to enjoy modern and sustainable facilities – and help bridge the gap between development and the needs of our local communities.”
