Man charged following shooting incident

A man was due in court today (Thursday, June 26) following a firearms incident in Newmarket.
Police were called to Granary Road by the ambulance service at around 6.35am yesterday, Wednesday, June 25, following reports that a man had been shot to the chest by an air weapon inside a premises.
Police, the East of England Ambulance service and a volunteer paramedic from Suffolk Accident Rescue Service (SARS) were all in attendance to the incident.
The victim, a man aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital with injuries not considered life-changing or life-threatening. He has since been discharged from hospital.
At approximately 8.40am, a 56-year-old-man was arrested in Kentford in connection with the incident and taken into police custody for questioning.
Tony Rowley, of Herringswell Road, in Kentford, has subsequently been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and driving whilst over the legal limit of alcohol.
He was been remanded in custody and was due to appear before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court (pictured above) today, Thursday, June 26.
