Abbeygate Cinema launches ‘Craft Club’ screenings in collaboration with Sew Much To Do

A new “Craft Club” screening event is set to take place later this month at Abbeygate Cinema.
It’s the first of a series of initiatives taking place on Sunday, July 20, at 11am, and features a showing of “Four Letters of Love”, the new romantic drama starring Pierce Brosnan and Helena Bonham Carter, based on the best-selling novel by Niall Williams.
In collaboration with Sew Much To Do, the haberdashery shop just opposite the cinema on Hatter Street, “Craft Club” invites guests to bring along their knitting, crochet, embroidery, sewing, sketchbooks – or any other quiet craft – and enjoy a new release in a relaxed, welcoming setting.
To support the creativity in the room, the house lights will remain gently raised throughout the screening, allowing guests to work on their projects during the film.
“We’ve always believed in cinema as a communal and creative experience,” says Gareth Boggis, the general manager at Abbeygate Cinema.
“Partnering with our neighbour Sew Much To Do felt like a natural fit.
“We’re excited to welcome the local crafting community and anyone curious to join in – whether you bring a long-standing project or just want to try something new.”
Sew Much To Do will also be offering a 10 per cent off voucher to anyone who attends the “Craft Club” screening.
The voucher can be used on the same day – simply show your film ticket at the shop which will be open from 10am to 4pm.
Lesley Partridge, the owner of Sew Much To Do, said: “We’re so pleased to be working with Abbeygate Cinema on ‘Craft Club’.
“So many of our customers love to knit or crochet while watching television at home – it’s wonderful to now have the chance to do that on the big screen, with a brand new release and in the company of fellow makers. It’s a lovely way to bring creativity and community together.”
Whether you’re a lifelong crafter or simply curious to try, “Craft Club” welcomes all skill levels and artistic interests.
