Two women in court today on criminal damage charges following incident in Brandon

Two women accused of trespassing on a warehouse roof in Brandon as part of a pro-Palestinian protest have been bailed after they appeared before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court (pictured above) yesterday (Thursday, July 3).
Police were called to Highbury Road shortly after 6.50am on Tuesday, July 1, following reports of a group of people on the roof of a property, with some spraying paint on the building and smashing windows.
Officers and specialist negotiators attended the location and the incident was safely resolved by 9pm.
Two women were arrested at the scene on suspicion of criminal damage and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
Amy Westray, aged 23, and of Blackhorse Lane, in Walthamstow, Greater London, was subsequently charged with the following offences:
- Having an article with intent to destroy or damage property, namely a crowbar, hammer and paint;
- Criminal damage; and
- Trespassing on land with the intention of obstructing/disrupting lawful activity.
Millie Gordon, aged 21 and of Braken Close in Stanish, Greater Manchester, was charged with:
- Having an article with intent to destroy or damage property, namely a crowbar and hammer;
- Criminal damage; and
- Trespassing on land with the intention of obstructing/disrupting lawful activity.
