Greene King has become a patron of the Suffolk Chamber of Commerce.

Founded in Bury St Edmunds in 1799, the brewer has been a cornerstone of Suffolk’s economic and cultural landscape for more than two centuries.

Today, the company operates more than 2,600 pubs, restaurants, and hotels across the UK, employs over 40,000 people, and continues to expand its operations. This includes a £40 million investment into a new brewery at Suffolk Park, on the Moreton Hall Estate, which is due to open in 2027.

The new patronage formalises the company’s support for the chamber’s mission to connect, represent and support Suffolk businesses of all sizes and sectors.

It also reinforces Greene King’s continued commitment to playing a proactive role in shaping the future of the county in which it was founded.

Jo Kreckler, the group communications director at Greene King, said: “As a business founded in Suffolk more than 200 years ago and with offices, a brewery and many pubs in the county today, we are proud to become a patron of the Suffolk Chamber of Commerce.

“We recognise the vital role the chamber plays in driving growth, innovation, and collaboration across Suffolk. We look forward to working with the Chamber for the benefit of its members on our joint aims to highlight our county’s potential on the national stage and build a stronger, more connected Suffolk for the future.”

Greene King joins a select and influential group of chamber patrons.

These are businesses that choose to play a leading role in strengthening the county’s voice on key issues ranging from transport and infrastructure to skills development, international trade and sustainability.

Patrons benefit from increased visibility, direct access to policy-shaping conversations and deeper engagement with the wider business community.

John Dugmore, the chief executive of Suffolk Chamber of Commerce, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Greene King to our patronage.

“As one of Suffolk’s most iconic businesses, with both historic roots and national impact, they bring unique perspective, scale, and energy to our network.

“This partnership isn’t just symbolic; it marks a practical commitment to shaping Suffolk’s economic future.

“Together, we will tackle the issues that matter to local businesses, from skills and infrastructure to community investment and sustainable growth.”
