Ipswich Town and Southampton fought out a 1-1 draw at Portman Road earlier today.

The result kept the two sides unbeaten run in the Championship in tact following the opening two games of the season with Town following up their stalemate at Birmingham last week while the Saints picked up three points following their win at home to Wrexham..

But the Tractor Boys will be the most disappointed of the two sides who had by far the better chances of the game.

Both goals came in the first half with a Taylor Harwood-Bellis own goal after four minutes giving the Tractor Boys an early advantage but Jay Robinson equalised for the visitors 16 minutes before the break.

Sam Szmodics hit the post in the second half while Robinson had a shot which Ipswich goalkeeper Alex Palmer deflected wide with his outstretched leg.

A huge cheer from the home fans greeted the appearance of Jens Cajuste who came on as a second half substitute but he was unable to break the deadlock with both sides having to settle for a point apiece in front of a 29,128 crowd.
