“Another … 100 Years of Big Bands” follows up on the LP Swing Orchestra’s critically acclaimed tour “100 Years of Big Bands”, which was televised on Sky Arts.

The story begins in Louis Armstrong’s New Orleans, through the golden age of Count Basie, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington and Benny Goodman, right up to current artists Harry Connick Jr and Michael Bublé, paying tribute to legends Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald along the way.

For this concert, which is coming to The Apex, in Bury St Edmunds, later this month, the 17-piece LP Swing Orchestra will be joined by two of the finest swing singers in the UK, Matt Ford (heard on Friday Night is Music Night, John Wilson Orchestra, BBC Proms) and Nicola Emmanuelle (from The Rat Pack: Live From Las Vegas) both pictured above.

In 2010 the Len Phillips Big Band came under the new leadership of Joe Pettitt, bringing a more vibrant and dynamic feel to their direction and in 2025 the highly respected trumpet player and vocalist Georgina Jackson took over the reins, making history in the Big Band World.

The LP Swing Orchestra receive regular airplay on BBC Radio 2 and Jazz FM.

Their latest single “I Wanna Be Like You” went straight into the iTunes Jazz Chart at number 1 and reached 31 in the UK Singles Chart.

Recent collaborators include Joe Stilgoe, The Puppini Sisters and Clare Teal.

Band member resumés read like a who’s who of show-business royalty; between them, they have worked with Michael Bublé, Ella Fitzgerald, The Beatles, Diana Ross, Tom Jones, Tony Bennett, Curtis Stigers, Burt Bacharach and Robbie Williams.

“Another … 100 Years of Big Bands” is at The Apex, on Sunday, September 14, at 2pm.
