Adnams announces new store location in Bury St Edmunds
Adnams is set to move into one of the town centre units at the Old Post Office redevelopment in Bury St Edmunds (pictured above).
The Southwold based brewery is in the process of agreeing a lease with West Suffolk Council to open its shop in the St Andrews St South unit.
It comes less than two weeks after they closed their doors on their shop in the Cornhill.
A licensing application has now been submitted for the new shop.
Adnams chief executive Jenny Hanlon said: “Bury St Edmunds has served as a great location for our loyal customers during recent years and we are really excited to welcome people to our new home within the town.
“We’re incredibly grateful for our customers patience during this temporary period of closure within the town and look forward to being able to celebrate with our great beers, wines and spirits in time for Christmas.”
Indy Wijenayaka, the cabinet member for Growth at West Suffolk Council, said: “We are delighted to be working with Adnams to support them in their ambitions for a new look shop in the heart of Bury St Edmunds town centre.
“This site is a prime location for people as they walk between the Arc and the historic town centre.
“This follows the council’s investment to buy and redevelop the empty building, protecting the Victorian Cornhill frontage while creating a new shop front onto St Andrews St South and widening Market Thoroughfare to benefit footfall across the town centre.
“We look forward to welcoming Adnams in the coming months.”
And Diane Hind, the cabinet member for Resources at the West Suffolk Council, said: “it is great news that Adnams has chosen to remain and invest in Bury St Edmunds town centre and we look forward to finalising the details with them over the coming weeks in preparation for their new store opening.
“They will become our first tenant for the new St Andrews Street South unit.
“We can also confirm that the Cornhill unit is also under offer and we look forward to being able to confirm more details about our new tenant once a lease has been signed.”
