Latin music on display at the Apex on two dates in November and December

Audiences can experience the heat, rhythm and romance of Latin music, with two evenings of live music at The Apex, in Bury St Edmunds.

On Wednesday, 26 November, you can join the award-winning band Classico Latino (pictured above), with guest star violinist Omar Puente, for an evening of music from Cuba and Latin America.

Blending the passion and vitality of authentic Latin music with the sound and precision of the classical tradition, Classico Latino brings a fresh perspective to Latin-American music, breathing new life into songs from across the continent.

Drawing on classic salsa tunes, romantic Boleros and Tangos, as well as lesser-known rhythms such as the Pasillo and Joropo, their music tells the varied stories and emotions of Latin America.

Guest star Omar Puente, the virtuoso Cuban jazz violinist, is a regular collaborator with Classico Latino and has performed as a soloist with many of the most celebrated Cuban and Latin musicians of the past 30 years.

Closely following on Tuesday, December 2, is Canadian nuevo-flamenco guitarist Jesse Cook with his innovative blend of flamenco, classical, jazz and world beat.

He creates a musical tapestry that is both timeless and cutting-edge; a virtuoso guitarist, his ability to blend genres over his 25-year career has earned him multiple accolades.

Acoustic Guitar Player’s Choice Award silver winner in the Flamenco Category, three-time winner of the Canadian Smooth Jazz award for Guitarist of the Year and winner of a Juno Award, Jesse has sold over 1.5 million records worldwide.

Jesse has spent the best part of 25 years touring and discovering the origins of the very music he performs.

He has sold more than a million concert tickets, whilst amassing over half a billion streams of his music globally on Spotify and other leading platforms.

Although often described as a nuevo-flamenco guitarist, Cook says: “What do I call my music? I’ve never known how to answer that question. Mostly I don’t care, as long as it touches people’s hearts.”

Both concerts start at 7.30pm, for tickets and more details, visit www.theapex.co.uk or call the Box Office on 01284 758000.
