Man dies following crash on A14 at Stowmarket
A man has died following a road traffic collision on the A14 at Stowmarket which resulted in the road being closed for over 12 hours.
Police were called at just after 4.20pm yesterday afternoon, Sunday, November 16, to reports of a two-vehicle collision on the westbound carriageway.
A black Jaguar XJ Sport was involved in a collision with a MAN truck which was parked in a layby.
Fire and ambulance crews were also in attendance, but the driver of the Jaguar – a 70-year-old man – sadly died at the scene.
A female passenger in the Jaguar was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge, having suffered a potentially life-changing leg injury.
The road was closed until 5.25am this morning (Monday, November 17) to allow for collision investigation work to be completed and recovery of the vehicles.
Officers are appealing for any potential witnesses and asking any motorists driving in the area on Sunday afternoon with a dashcam fitted in their vehicle, to review the footage for any material that may be of assistance.
