Proudly sitting in the top six of the Championship in fourth place Ipswich are on a bit of a roll.

Undefeated in six games they now travel to Oxford on Friday night followed by the re-arranged midweek clash at Blackburn Rovers.

The away form is beginning to reap reward and last night’s (Tuesday, November 25) 2-0 win at Hull City was a great result against a team who had yet to lose at the MKM Stadium this season.

Kieran McKenna’s bench helped to make the difference with Jack Taylor coming on in place of the injured Jens Cajuste at the start of the second period impressing.

And former Hull player Jaden Philogene chipped in with a pin point cross for Marcelino Nunez to head home the opening goal in the 69th minute and Chuba Akpom notched up his first goal for the club four minutes later.

Town failed to produce a single shot on target in the first half as Hull were looking to extend an unbeaten run at home to seven games.

The closest the Tigers came to a goal was a first-half shot against the post by Joel Ndala and defeat dropped them two places to eighth in the table, with Ipswich climbing four and moving into the play-off places.

But Town could drop a couple of places later today when Millwall host Sheffield Wednesday and Bristol City travel to Wrexham.

McKenna rotated almost his entire midfield and attack, making six changes to the starting line-up from their goalless draw with Wrexham at the weekend.

Speaking to the Town’s website he said it was a “brilliant” result for the club against a quality team and had further praise for the supporters who made the long trip up the A1.

“Yea, brilliant,” he said. “The supporters in the away games have been fantastic, I have to say, they have been there right with the group, pushed us through the game understanding that it’s not always going to be perfect but you have to stay strong and you have to stay together and that’s what it’s always been like to be successful in this division.

“You’re just really happy when you can give them the reward by getting the goals at the end and the players to be able to celebrate with them at the end and they can enjoy the trip home a little bit more now as much as it’s a long one and we look forward to seeing them again on Friday night.”
