Up to £1,600 raised for charity from concert in Stowmarket

Nearly £1,600 has been raised for Cancer Support in Suffolk thanks to a fund raising concert in Stowmarket.

It was organised by Mid Suffolk Rotary and featured the Stowmarket Concert Band (pictured above).

Held at the town’s United Reformed Church, Richard Tingey, the club’s President, said that the audience experienced a “feast of good music” and showed their appreciation by “loudly clapping” at the end of each piece.

“The band encored with the Radetzky March, which was widely appreciated by the audience,” he added.

With the help of the sponsor, Sureserve Compliance who paid for the event, the club raised nearly £1,600 for the charity.

The concert was compered by Mark Murphy MBE who is probably better known as the former presenter of his own broadcast on Radio Suffolk. He is also CEO of the Cancer Support Suffolk Charity.

At Cancer Support Suffolk they are focused on life before, during and after cancer.

They aim to educate the community about the signs and symptoms prior to its arrival, support cancer patients during treatment through non-clinical therapies and provide a safe space in our wellbeing workshops in the latter part of treatment and beyond.

Mid Suffolk Rotary meet usually at the Limes Hotel, in Needham Market, every other Thursday evening.
