EvoFIT issued and anniversary checks completed following sex attack on jogger in Stowmarket
Detectives investigating a serious sexual assault that occurred in Stowmarket last week are issuing an EvoFIT likeness of a man they would like to trace in connection with the incident (see imaged above).
The attack took place between 5.45am and 6am on Wednesday, November 19, along a path off Iliffe Way.
A woman aged in her 30s reported that she was out running when she was approached by an unknown man who pulled her to the ground and sexually assaulted her.
The victim continues to be supported by specialist trained officers and she has been assisting detectives with their enquiries.
This includes helping to produce an EvoFIT likeness of the suspect which is now being issued to the public.
The suspect is described as white, approximately 5ft 10ins in height, of medium build and was wearing a dark woolly beanie hat.
He also wore a thick, dark rain jacket and dark trousers, and is reported to have smelled strongly of cigarettes and cannabis.
Between 4.30am and 6.30am yesterday morning, Wednesday, November 26, officers conducted checks one week on from the attack in the vicinity of Iliffe Way, where they spoke to 40 members of the public.
Detective Inspector Stuart Dolan-Allen said: “We are continuing to appeal for assistance from members of the public with this investigation and would ask that people look closely at the EvoFIT and contact us if they believe they know who it resembles.
“We have officers pursuing a number of other lines of enquiry in respect of this incident and the local community can continue to expect to see an increased police presence in the area.”
On Sunday, November 23, a 38-year-old man was arrested in connection with the inquiry and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
He was released without charge on Tuesday, November 25 and will face no further police action.
Anyone who believes they recognise the man pictured in the EvoFIT, or who has any information in connection with this incident, should contact West CID at Bury St Edmunds Police Station, quoting reference: 37/65640/25
