Detectives granted more time to question woman after death of man in Haverhill

Police investigating the death of a man in Haverhill have been granted more time to question a woman in connection with the incident.

Officers were called by the ambulance service at 7.53pm on Tuesday, December 2, to reports a man had suffered serious injuries at an address in Lordscroft Lane.

The ambulance service attended, and a man aged in his 50s was initially treated for serious injuries, however he died a short time later.

The man’s death is currently unexplained.

Enquiries are at an early stage but currently it is being treated as suspicious.

A Home Office post-mortem examination is due to take place today, Thursday, December 4.

A 61-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

This morning, Thursday, December 4, detectives made an application for a warrant of further detention at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court and were granted an additional 26 hours to question the suspect, expiring at 12.31pm tomorrow, Friday, December 5.

A police scene remains in place at the premises on Lordscroft Lane while enquiries continue.
