The community radio station for West Suffolk, RWSfm, marked National Volunteers Day with a celebration of local talent, community spirit and new programming.
The radio station welcomed young people from a local school to the station today (Friday, December 5) for a special visit where jeu were able to get a behind-the-scenes look at how the station operates, meet the presenters and volunteers who keep it running, and learn more about the power of community radio.
And on the same day, RWSfm launched a show hosted by its newest volunteer, Joel Andrews.
He will present “Kickoff the Weekend”, which will take a look at the West Suffolk sports teams and news from 6pm to 8pm.
The show will spotlight all the upcoming fixtures for West Suffolk’s local sports teams, giving fans the latest updates while mixing in a selection of music.
In the lead-up to National Volunteers Day, RWSfm hosted a Music Night Quiz on Wednesday, December 3, at the Kings Arms Tavern, in Bury St Edmunds.
The event brought together supporters and listeners for a fun evening of trivia and tunes, raising funds to support the station’s ongoing work in the community.
RWSfm 103.3 is broadcast and produced in Bury St Edmunds, with all presenters volunteering their time and talent.
It is looking for new volunteers to help behind the microphones – if you fancy getting involved, get in touch or emailing hello@rwsfm.co.uk
As the station celebrates its 15th anniversary on 103.3 FM, it also looks ahead to a new chapter with a renewed five-year licence from OFCOM.
